HISTORY OF THE CARTRIDGE BAG
SCARLETT WOODS’ first collection is a modern twist on the traditional British cartridge bag, redesigned for the 21st century woman on the go. |
The military first used ammunition in battle in 14th century, when they used belts to hold the gunpowder and lead balls. By the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, armies were using cartridge belt boxes to hold its bullets.

As shotguns improved, so did game shooting popularity, especially with Kings, Queens and the aristocracy, and by the 1800’s the cartridge bag had moved from the military into field use.
Made of leather, with a quick load flap, the bags have become a staple part of any shoot over the past centuries, and with its classic design seemed the perfect vintage piece to launch SCARLETT WOODS with.
